Irish payroll for overseas employers
Your company is based in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland or elsewhere, and you have staff working in Ireland. We register you with Revenue, run your Irish payroll every month and keep you compliant, without you needing an Irish company or office.

Who this is for
One employee in Ireland or fifty, we handle it
More European businesses now hire people who live and work in Ireland: remote employees, sales and account managers, engineers, consultants and support staff. In most cases these employees must be paid through Irish payroll, even when the employer has no Irish company, branch or office.
Getting this wrong can mean penalties for the employer and tax problems for your staff. We act as your local payroll team in Ireland, so you and your employees have nothing to worry about.
- EU and UK companies with remote employees in Ireland
- Groups that have hired Irish staff before setting up an Irish company
- Employers moving staff to Ireland, or hiring Irish residents to work from home
- Companies changing from an employer-of-record service to their own Irish payroll

Irish requirements
What an overseas employer must do in Ireland
A short guide to the main obligations. We take care of all of them for you.
Register as an employer with Revenue
Employers paying staff for work done in Ireland generally need to register for Irish PAYE before the first payday, whether or not they have an Irish entity.
Operate PAYE, USC and PRSI
Irish income tax, Universal Social Charge and PRSI are deducted every pay period and reported to Revenue in real time, on or before each payday.
Pay Revenue on time
The tax and PRSI deducted is paid to Revenue each month or quarter. Late payments bring interest and penalties.
Social security under EU rules
People working in Ireland usually pay Irish PRSI. Staff temporarily posted from another EU country may stay in their home system with an A1 certificate.
Pension auto-enrolment
Since 1 January 2026, eligible employees without a workplace pension must be enrolled in My Future Fund, with employer contributions run through payroll.
Irish employment law
Written terms of employment, the national minimum wage, annual leave, public holidays and statutory sick pay all apply to employees working in Ireland.

FAQ
Questions from overseas employers
Your situation may differ, so we confirm the position for you in the free call.
Do we need to set up an Irish company to employ someone in Ireland?
No. A foreign company can register directly with Revenue as an employer and run Irish payroll. Some employers later set up an Irish company as their team grows, and we can help with that too.
Do we need an Irish bank account?
Usually not. Salaries can be paid from your existing euro account, and we will confirm the best way to make Revenue payments from your bank.
Will our employee pay Irish or home-country social security?
Under EU rules, people who work in Ireland normally pay Irish PRSI. Employees posted to Ireland for a limited period may stay in their home system if they hold an A1 certificate. We check each case.
What about staff who only visit Ireland for short trips?
Short business visits can sometimes be excluded from Irish payroll under Revenue's rules for short-term visitors. It depends on the number of work days and the employee's circumstances, so we review this with you.
Can having an employee in Ireland affect our company's tax?
Possibly. Depending on what the employee does, their work could create a taxable presence for your company in Ireland. We flag this early so you can plan with your own tax advisers.
We use an employer-of-record service. Can we move to our own payroll?
Yes. Running your own Irish payroll through us is often cheaper. We manage the changeover so your employees are paid correctly without any gap.
